The Theatre Lab
For 30 years, The Theatre Lab has been transforming lives through theatre education. Washington’s largest and most comprehensive theatre school, we work to make both the artistic and the real-life benefits of theatre training accessible to all in the DC metro community. Theatre Lab serves more than 2,800 individuals annually from all backgrounds and experience levels through award-winning youth theatre education programs, adult classes, professional training programs, and Life Stories, our core social justice program in which people from vulnerable populations create and perform original dramatic works based on lived experiences. The Theatre Lab uses theatre arts to expand minds, create access to high-quality theatre arts education, cultivate talent and creative expression, and elevate the voices of people whose stories too often remain unheard. The Theatre Lab has been recognized by The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities as one of the 50 “top arts- and humanities-based programs in the country serving youth beyond school hours.
